Giving Yourself Permission to do What is Needed
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to do what is needed in your life? This is especially relevant when you’re facing challenges or illnesses that affect your well-being. I’m Ember Pilati, and I’m here to remind you that it’s okay to take a break, prioritize your health, and engage in self-care.
Take a Break
As a mom with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects my thyroid function, I know how hard it can be to take care of myself. I’ve been dealing with a flare-up lately, and it has reminded me of the importance of putting into practice what I teach others. This is why I’ve taken a break from podcasting and focused on the fundamentals of self-care, such as eating, moving, sleeping, and gratitude practices.
It’s important to remember that taking care of yourself is essential, even if it feels like you’re not making progress. As someone with Hashimoto’s, I experience symptoms like fatigue, depression, anxiety, hair loss, and weight gain, despite my best efforts to eat clean and exercise regularly. This is why I’ve had to recommit to the fundamentals of self-care to ensure that I’m taking care of myself in all aspects of my life.
Prioritize Your Health
Giving yourself permission to do what is needed can be challenging. But it’s essential to remember that it’s okay to prioritize your health. This means that you need to take a step back and reevaluate your priorities. It’s okay to say no to commitments that don’t serve your well-being or take a break from activities that drain your energy. By doing this, you’ll be able to focus on what’s most important to you, whether that’s engaging in self-care or spending time with your loved ones.
Self-Care
First, consider the fundamentals of self-care that work for you. This may include eating well, engaging in regular exercise, getting enough sleep, practicing gratitude, and engaging in spiritual or meditative practices. Even if you’re not feeling well, these habits will help you feel better and stay healthy.
Finally, don’t forget that it’s okay to ask for help. Whether that’s from friends, family members, or professionals, there are people who are willing and able to support you. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help when you need it.
Giving yourself permission to do what is needed is essential to your well-being. Whether that’s taking a break, prioritizing self-care, or asking for help, it’s okay to put your health first. Remember that the fundamentals of self-care, including eating well, exercising, and practicing gratitude, are key to feeling better and staying healthy. So take some time for yourself, reevaluate your priorities, and focus on what’s most important to you. You deserve it!
